Best piece of advice I received when applying to b-school: Make sure this is what you really want.

Bahar

Best piece of advice I received when applying to b-school: Do your research well, review the b-school web site in detail, talk to current students/alumni as much as possible. Think about your experience, career aspirations and reflect these in your essays. Be articulate and motivated. Re-read your essays and make sure your friends review them.
About me: Born and raised in Izmir (3rd biggest city in Turkey)spent the last 10 years of my life in Istanbul before LBS. Always lived in seaside cities and love everything about sea. I am a professional scuba diver, interested in free diving, and swimming . I also like travelling and skiing.

Chemi

London Business School Masters in Finance
Class: MIF FT 2012
Nationality: Israeli
Occupation before London Business School: Corporate Finance Executive, agro chemical manufacturer
Best piece of advice I received when applying to b-school: Make sure that the school location is suitable for your partner’s way of life, career aspirations, etc. If your partner is not happy in the new place, you also would not be happy.
About me: I lived all my life in Israel, and had some relatively long trips around the world. I have five amazing nephews, leaving them was the hardest aspect (and maybe the only one) of going to study at LBS. Studying abroad for a second degree was my dream for a long time, and I did a decent research before choosing the MiF at LBS. Now I am totally happy with my decision. I live with my wife in a great flat at St. Johns Wood, go/bike to school, eat wonderful authentic food with my classmates, so I enjoy every minute here. Except for the time that I need to look for a job. So if you hear about anything….

Best piece of advice I received when applying to b-school: Do your research – the most important thing is finding a school that is the right fit for you.
About me: I was born and raised in the Philadelphia area. My educational background is in Finance and prior to joining LBS I worked as an Investment Analyst covering long only strategies. I am passionate about investing, which is what led me to pursue my Masters in Finance at LBS. However, I am not all work and no play. I love the beach, traveling, meeting new people and exploring new things. As a Philly native, I am also a die-hard Eagles and Phillies fan!

Ella

Ella Class: MIF FT 2014
Nationality: Singaporean
Occupation before London Business School: Chartered Accountant
Best piece of advice I received when applying to b-school: -
About me: Her interest in the Masters in Finance has been largely influenced by her desire to advance her corporate finance skills through the depth of the curriculum and the close proximity to London’s finance industry. Ella is maximising her experience through leveraging on her pharmaceutical knowledge to contribute as a committee member of the Healthcare Club, and participating in external competitions. In her free time, Ella enjoys exploring UK, immersing in the art scene of London, and playing tennis when the weather permits.

Gayathrisai

London Business School Masters in Finance
Class: MIF FT 2013

Occupation before London Business School: Credit Risk Analyst, Corporate Banking, Axis Bank Limited, Chennai, India
Best piece of advice I received when applying to b-school: Try doing everything, but don’t end up doing nothing; it’s about striking a balance! Embrace life on & off campus, love it and live it, but don’t forget to sleep!
About me: It was my vision to be part of one of the top universities of the world. Getting here was certainly a journey of toil and risk, but all is well that ends well! Exuberant, passionate and undying – that’s me in a nutshell! I love painting/music/writing /running and have been involved in voluntary service for the last decade. I’ve lived in India all my life and this is my first time abroad on a long-term. I’m here to gain international exposure and am incredibly overwhelmed by the cultural diversity of my class. I am earnestly making an attempt to make the most of my time here – London Business School has become my world now, a home away from home!

Inna

London Business School Masters in Finance
Class: MIF PT 2013
Nationality: Russian

Best piece of advice I received when applying to b-school: Don’t be afraid to take time off work. Life is long and post-grad education might as well be one of the best parts of it.
About me: Born in Moscow, I moved to London at the age of 21 and since then have travelled extensively around Europe and the USA. I did Economics, Management and Strategy for my undergraduate (ANE) and postgraduate (LSE & Chicago Booth). My work experience includes IKEA, Diane von Furstenberg, Royal Dutch Shell and Aviva. I love juggling many things at a time (including horse-riding and making hats in my spare time) and will be happy to share with you my experience at the LBS.

Best piece of advice I received when applying to b-school: Typically around 70% of successful applicants rate “interaction with students and alumni” as a key deciding factor in their decision to apply. Engage yourself as much as possible.
About me: Born and raised in Taiwan, exchanged to Singapore/ Netherlands, and worked in Taipei for the past 5 years. Trained to be exact than just lucky from the trader experience. Enjoy reading, thinking, and listening to the 60′s classic rock music while playing my guitar along.

Jon

Class: MiF FT 2012
Nationality: American
Occupation before London Business School: Senior Analyst, Structured Transactions, Pacific Gas and Electric Co., San Francisco, CA, USA
Best piece of advice I received when applying to b-school: Business school is a relationship as much as it is an education; the school offers education and experience, you offer perspective and diversity. Concentrate on what makes you unique, and what you can add to both the school and your fellow students.
About me: I’m in my early 30’s, American, born and raised just outside New York City, but I’ve spent the past few years in California. I’m focused on the energy industry, specifically natural gas and renewables. In my spare time I enjoy endurance sports, climbing, skiing, and mountain biking.

Prianka

London Business School Masters in Finance
Class: MiF FT 2011
Nationality: Australian
Occupation before London Business School: Senior Analyst – Corporate Finance, Business Valuations at Deloitte (Australia)
Best piece of advice I received when applying to b-school: It hurts but it pays off!
About me: I was born and raised in Sydney, Australia and have lived and breathed the beach and the summer sun since then – I still don’t know how I am going to deal with a London winter. I’ve spent the last five years working long hours in Audit, M&A and finally Business Valuations at Deloitte and was so happy when I found out I would get to be a student again! In my spare time I enjoy reading, travelling and good food. The best thing about school and London though is definitely the friends that I’ve made and the fact that I can take a train to Paris in 2 hours!
